Can I Really Be Happy

Can I Really Be Happy

Day 1...and counting.
So this morning, the man ate candy I had set out for my secret pal at work, the girl made it pretty clear that I'm not on the top of her "People I Like" list, and I tried to do our budget and realized - I HAVE NO MONEY - and had to ask to borrow from my parents...still waiting to hear back. It'd be pretty easy to be unhappy, but I'm choosing not to do that!
So, feeling rather like an alcoholic, I'm going through the steps:
  1. Think Gratitude – Okay, so I have an amazing sister that would do anything for me. (She even offered not to cash a $15 dollar check I wrote her...like that would help!) I have a humidifier...if you have dry skin, you'd understand! And I have curly hair that I did not have to style for hours this morning.
  2. Choose Happiness – Even though I could focus on all the negative things in my life, I'm not going to. See, I can do this.
  3. Simplicity = Joy – Just trying not to over complicate anything today. My mind has a habit of doing that.
  4. Review Nightly – This is yet to come, but I bet it will be hard tonight.
  5. Minimize Negative Influences – This one may be hard, unless I'm thinking about moving out of my house!
You think 60,000 thoughts a day. Don't waste 59.999 of them on negative thoughts!

That will be my mantra for today. I will be happy!!!!!!!!!!!

Starting a Me Project

So…here’s my story.
I’m 28, married to “the man”, and full-time stepmom to “the girl”. Sometimes it’s great, but more often it’s just plain hard. Lately it’s been more hard than good, so I’m making a commitment to myself to be happy. Easy, right?
Okay so it’s not easy to be happy when you’re not, but I have to try.
So, I’ve done my research and here’s my plan:
1. Think Gratitude – Being grateful not only makes you feel good in the moment, it puts you in a positive mindset. I will think of three things every morning to be grateful for…even when three seems like a lot.
2. Choose Happiness – Yes, happiness is a choice. I plan to make a conscious choice to be happy whenever I can.
3. Simplicity = Joy – The simple things are sometimes more easy to be happy about. Focus on those.
4. Review Nightly – Not the negative things, but the positive ones. I figure there has to be something!!
5. Minimize Negative Influences – Stay away from negative things, people, information, etc.
I’m trying to do what I can to help myself though this time and hopefully a few of you too. I’ll see you tomorrow!
At least I always have "the pups"…they help!
